We kicked off a long weekend on Friday with a trip to American Village where we found a police safety event taking place for local school children - kawai!

We were planning a visit to a trick art exhibit but alas, it was closed, so we opted for a fun lunch of sushi at a restaurant with a conveyer belt and digital screen for ordering specific items. What a great concept! It was delicious, and we ate very well for a very reasonable price.

After lunch we treated ourselves to ladies' day at the spa - a 90-minute massage - among the fastest and most relaxing 90 minutes of our lives!

Ladies' spa day wouldn't be complete without -- ICE CREAM -- so we stepped next door to Blue Seal, Okinawa's famous ice cream brand featuring some distinctly Okinawan flavors - like Okinawan Salt Cookies, Shiquasa Sherbet, and purple sweet potato - alongside classic ice cream favorites. Oishii! (yum!) We took our ice cream for a stroll along the boardwalk:

trying to use "hareonna power" to part the clouds - we look funny
(hareonna is a girl who brings sunshine)

standing on trick art columns - tah dah!

V LOVES sea turtles!
... which makes this amazing find - sea-turtle-shaped melon pan - pretty much the perfect food for V!

not a bad melon pan stash for one day... :)
